Data quality checks before publishing master data
A filled field is not necessarily the right field. Use data quality checks to inspect company identity, address roles and proposed changes.
How is Business Partner data validated?
Data validation combines field checks, formatting rules, provider requirements and human review. It helps catch incomplete or inconsistent master data before a source update.
Check fields and company identity together
Reviewable identity
Look at the company name, tax identifiers, contact assignment and billing or shipping role together.
Consistent formats
A suggested correction stays editable. Ambiguous company matches need attention rather than an invented value.
Provider-aware records
The source may still reject a valid-looking draft because of its own mandatory fields or rules.
How it works
- 1
Collect
Load or capture the record.
- 2
Inspect
Inspect field warnings and missing values.
- 3
Correct
Correct the draft and approve the scope.
- 4
Approve
Check the connected system’s response.
Example: Data Validation
A company website lists an office address but no delivery location. Keep the known address and ask for the missing shipping details before publishing.
These checks do not certify a tax number, company-register entry or postal deliverability.
