Custom master data management, built around your process
Your item catalogue has different rules from your supplier list. A migration has different risks from routine cleanup. We scope a solution around the records, checks and approvals your team actually needs.
How does a custom master data solution work?
We start with representative records and your source systems, agree what a correct record looks like, then build the matching, formatting and review rules around that definition. A test preview shows the proposed changes before an agreed rollout. The examples below describe possible projects, not additional self-service modules.
Examples of custom solutions
Item and product data
Harmonize items, check attributes and find duplicate products.
Supplier data workflows
Purchasing-specific checks, ownership and supplier approvals.
ERP and CRM data migration
Map, clean and reconcile records before a system change.
Asset and equipment data
Standardize equipment names, identifiers and locations.
Agree the rules before changing the data
Your records and exceptions
Define required fields, identifiers, units, categories and relationships. Include the awkward records: multiple languages, obsolete codes, shared addresses and missing identifiers.
Your approval policy
Decide who may review and apply changes, which exact matches may run automatically and which conflicts must stay in a manual queue. Access and source-write permissions are agreed separately.
A measurable acceptance test
Use an agreed sample to check field coverage, false duplicate suggestions, unchanged records and provider errors. Keep source IDs and a change report so the result can be checked.
How it works
- 1
Describe the problem
Contact us with your systems, record types, approximate volume and a few anonymized examples. Please do not send credentials or live personal data in the initial request.
- 2
Define the implementation
Agree mappings, matching rules, field ownership, provider access, exclusions and acceptance criteria. We confirm feasibility, effort and delivery timing for this scope.
- 3
Test with your team
Review before-and-after previews in a test environment. Try ambiguous records, rejected proposals, interrupted runs and provider-specific restrictions.
- 4
Roll out in agreed stages
Approve the initial selection, monitor results and review exceptions. Any rollback or recovery procedure must be agreed and tested; a change log alone cannot reverse source automation.
One process, different data rules
A distributor could first normalize item units, then review possible duplicate SKUs without merging different pack sizes. A separate supplier project could require a purchasing owner before a record is released. Both need previews and approvals, but their matching rules should differ.
These are illustrative custom projects. Item and equipment processing are not part of the current self-service Business Partner modules. Delivery, integrations and permitted writes depend on the agreed scope.
